Local Truth. Plain Talk. Real Answers.

Understanding Knox County government — without the noise

It’s tax season again, and with it come familiar questions:

Why are my taxes going up? Where is the money going? Who decides how it’s spent?

These are valid concerns — and ones we hear often.

One thing’s for sure: writing about county government isn’t exactly a crowd-pleaser.

It’s hard to keep people interested — we’re all busy with our everyday lives. And that’s part of the problem. While we’ve been working hard, raising families, and trying to make a living, they’ve been grabbing our wallets and spending our money — money our grandkids, and maybe even their kids, will be stuck paying for until they are our age.

And now, they’re at it again. You can't make enough money to pay your own bills and they just keep spending. The only way it's going to stop is when we care enough to say no more - STOP THE SPENDING. It's going to take all of us to send this message. Our next edition will outline the next planned project. Please share this blog with friends and neighbors so we can get the word out.

That’s why we started this blog.

Our goal is simple:

Shining a Light on Knox County

We’re here to cut through the confusion, clear up the clutter, and make local government make sense. Whether you’re fed up with rising taxes, curious about where the money goes, or just trying to get a straight answer — you’re not alone.

This isn’t about politics. It’s about practical things: safe neighborhoods, decent schools, and a community that works for all of us. We may not agree on everything, but most of us still believe in hard work, fairness, and a future worth building.

So if you’ve ever tried to find answers on the county website and left more confused than when you started — welcome. You’re exactly who this is for.

No finger-pointing. Just facts.

No spin. Just clarity.

Because knowing how things work is the first step to making them better.
